Born 1955 in Iceland. Sólveig Aðalsteinsdóttir has studied in Iceland, the USA and Holland and has had a number of solo exhibitions around the world.
Sólveig Aðalsteinsdóttir’s work is often very tactile, and the material used is a very important element: its treatment can be both raw and delicate at the same time. Her works are often concerned with nature in some way. For example, Walk 1-5 Aðalsteinsdóttir took inspiration from her daily walk in the park with her dog. Mapping out her route Aðalsteinsdóttir created drawings of her walks making what was invisible become visible. This then became the basis for four new prints she made with Peacock’s printmaker, James Vass.
One part of a set of 4 produced for our 2014 exhibition Nasasjón.
