Having enjoyed a long career teaching art and design, Peacock Studio Member Kathleen Cowie now focuses on her own artwork. She has exhibited with Grampian Hospitals Art Trust, Peacock & the worm joint shows and Aberdeen Artists Exhibitions. Her work is also part of private collections.
Kathleen works in several areas of printmaking, etching being a favourite. Her practice also includes drawing, painting and enamel work. Her inspiration is taken from many areas including the human form, odd objects and the use of built and natural environments to create dynamic compositions. The coast and the sea, above and below, (Kathleen does scuba diving as a hobby) is also a great source of inspiration. Her work is representational but not realistic, as she aims for work that has clarity but is not simplistic.
Kathleen also works as an art tutor and an audio and visual describer as required.
