Few figures epitomise the counter culture more than Hunter S Thompson and Ralph Steadman.
”Subverting was key. He and I always believed authority was used as a weapon, not as control. We had a healthy disrespect for it” – Ralph Steadman.
Made during a long residency stay with Peacock Visual Arts in the 90's the screenprint formed part of a larger suite that recognised writers of influence to Ralph. Amongst them Burns, Burroughs, Proust and Woolf – Thompson however was closest to Ralph in vision and shared a long artistic and personal friendship until his untimely death in 2005.
