Kenneth Dingwall's large-scale abstract works are strongly influenced by and suggestive of patterns in nature, such as bones of the human skeleton, sunlight shining on the ocean, or folded leaves. Dingwall’s work is also described as ‘a psychological exploration of surfaces, membranes and what is hidden beneath the surface’, which are painted in a limited range of colours, commonly blue, red, black, and most often grey.
