Working across weaving and printmaking, Carol Dunbar’s meditative, often abstract compositions, combine geometrical shapes with found text and botanical imagery. Her work explores found material, natural forms and the transformative relation between weaving and storytelling.

In Midsummer 1906, a found diary or notebook page transports the viewer backwards in time, to a very personal, trivial moment of notetaking. Whoever wrote that reminder, probably intended to come back to it at a later point; we will never know if they did or not. The future remains undisclosed. The red arch-like shape, added on the screenprint in chine collé, adds an element of ambiguity and points to the composite nature of the work.
