After Miguel Benlloch, La rosa de los vientos sin norte (1990), drawing, and Desorientación: La rosa de los vientos sin norte (2013), t-shirt design, graphic by Julián Ruesga.
La rosa de los vientos sin norte is a drawing realised by Benlloch in 1990, subsequently reworked into a T-shirt design in collaboration with Julián Ruesga. Demonstrating Benlloch’s sustained interest in geography, (dis)orientation and wordplay, as well as his beginnings as a poet and his interest in concrete poetry, Desorientación shows a never-ending word that leads back to where it started. Upon closer look, however, the word breaks itself up into letters from which it is harder to make out meaning, and are closer instead to an anagram. As a means of navigating the world, language alone is ineffective; like using for compass a rose of the winds without the North.
